The problem
Supplying a major order on a short deadline, premier UK airconditioning ductwork manufacturer Hotchkiss Ductwork could not afford to slow down production to repair settlement of 1,000m² of manufacturing space at their factory in Eastbourne, Sussex.
Built on an originally marshy mix of peat and clay, the main production unit floor had settled up to 200m across its length and breadth in a saucer-like subsidence.
The solution.
Uretek’s resin injection process was chosen for the repair because it can be applied without the need for factory closure.
According to Rodney Fox, Operations Director for Hotchkiss: "Following Uretek’s inspection, two teams came into the factory for a two-week period. Uretek's technicians worked on the factory floor with production going on all around them. They were highly flexible and co-operated well with our workforce.
"The job is very impressive. In fact, it’s hard to see what they have done! The whole floor slab is now significantly level and we believe it will give us many more years of profitable service."
