Hiscocks Bridge in Bath
Settlement to embankments on the approaches to Hiscocks Bridge in Bath, a Brunel-designed structure currently used as a footbridge, led Bath & North-East Somerset Council to bring in Uretek to strengthen the ground for two weeks in February.
GPR surveys identified voiding under the entire surface of the walkway, which Uretek consolidated with 120 injections of polymer resins at 1.5m intervals, to a depth of up to 1.5m. The Uretek teams also stabilised bridge abutment walling by injecting up to 3m beneath the existing foundation level.
The Council were pleased with the outcome – and local walking and environmental groups were also pleased with the choice of Uretek. “We at the Two Tunnels campaign are delighted to see this structure under maintenance using this innovative technique,” commented a spokesman.
