Uretek pulls a solution out of the hat.

An unusual task for Uretek was accomplished recently in treating an isolated dovecote at Davenport House in Shropshire.

“The problem was that rabbits had tunnelled under the structure, which was built on sandy soil.” explains Steve Groom, of Consulting Engineers Lewis Howdle.

“There really was no practical alternative to using polymer injection. We couldn’t dig to put in mass concrete underpinning, as the tower might have collapsed. And we’ve used Uretek for ten years, so we were familiar with the process.”

Conservation authorities visited the site to watch as Uretek applied their injection process to the entire perimeter of the circular building. Walling was stabilised, and the ground was consolidated to a depth of 2 metres below ground level. The work was completed in a day and a half.
